The SUPER Study is seeking adults with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) for an investigation of nutrition and health.
Many women with PCOS may not know that they have it. If you have not been diagnosed with PCOS but you have infrequent or irregular periods, you may be eligible!
Want to improve your health through dietary changes? Participate in the SUPER Study, from the University of Michigan, about nutrition and well-being!
What is involved?
• Follow one of two promising dietary approaches for PCOS: either a DASH diet (which includes whole grains, lower fat dairy, fruits and vegetables, and lean proteins) or a very low carbohydrate (‘keto’) diet (which cuts out most sugars and starches). If you join, you’ll be randomly assigned to one of these two diets, both of which appear helpful for people with PCOS.
• Be part of an online program with videos, text messages, resources, and cookbooks.
• Get inspiration and advice from a coach who will help you as you make changes to your way of eating and lifestyle.
• Learn about making long-lasting habit changes fit into your life.
• Complete study measurements at the start of the study, and then at month 4 and month 12. These will include a blood draw and some online surveys.
Previous participants have very much enjoyed being a part of our nutrition studies. For example:
• “Not enough good things to say about how empowered I feel because of the study. Thank you all so much.”
• “I'm so incredibly grateful for this program. It's been life changing.”
• “The fact that you literally did all the ‘homework’ for me, and then every week I got the benefit of really great information... I felt supported all the way, in fact I'd say this has been a perfect program for who I am. I am only disappointed that it's coming to an end, but you've given me great tools, so only better things to come right?!”
You might be eligible if you are 21-45 years old and have PCOS. Participants who are eligible and complete the 12-month trial may receive up to $175.
